First Regulator prototype
This was a modification (something of a daughter board) to the venerable Heart InCharge Regulator, where I replaced the manual charge setpoint potentiometer with a digital version, controlled by the Arduino. I added a thermocouple and hall-effect current sensor for feedback. At this time, I was intimidated by the prospect of creating a regulator from scratch, and this was an effective temporary solution.

Second Regulator prototype
This was the first “breadboard” regulator made entirely from basic components. It used an H-Bridge to generate a PWM signal to the alternator field coil, and I was able to measure the relationship between field voltage and output current for my Hamilton Ferris small-frame alternator. The scrap Lexan sheet made an easy non-conductive mounting system for the 5+ individual modules, but it was not beautiful.
